The model NLS pneumatic liquid level switch is a diaphragm actuated switch. This switch is actuated by compression of a captive air column in the detecting pipe beneath the diaphragm.
The NLS is employed in process industry applications where electrical power is not available or hazardous conditions exist.

  • Simple installation – requires only a G1 connection at the top of the tank
  • Reliable – the NLS employs a minimum of moving parts. The diaphragm moves a maximum of 0.08 inches (2mm). No moving parts are in contact with the liquid
  • Long switch life – the SPDT miniature switch is designed for over 50,000 operations
 
The NLS is designed for use in high viscosity liquids. For example, the NLS is used for low level detection of grease in the storage drum of a lubrication pump which pumps large volumes at high pressure.
It is modified to overcome the high viscosity by making the tip of the detecting pipe larger than usual. The tip of the detecting pipe is also cut at a slant to prevent the pipe from clogging.
On an ocean liner sewage disposal system, on board sewage is collected in a tank to purify it for reclamation. The NLS detects the purified sewage level and then discharges it to the sea or recycles it to flush the ship’s toilets.
